What is Lifecast?
Lifecast is the main feature of the new Nokia N97 Mini that was released recently. The term is similar to Podcast, which is a log of your opinions on media format. Instead of getting into the trite details of the etymology of the term, let us focus instead on what makes Lifecasting the blog of the future: it is easy to do.
The reason why web logs –or blogs, became famous is due to the nature of convenience attributed to it. All you had to do was type in your thoughts for the day, your opinions or what ever you wanted to write and presto, it was instantly uploaded on the internet for an audience of your choosing (thanks to privacy options on most blogging sites). This removes the hassle of making your own website that needed a full update and the recoding of HTML script even if all you wanted to do was say a couple of sentence for your update.
Lifecasting makes all of this even easier. No longer do you have to sit down in front of the computer, wait for your OS to load and finally go online and log on; all you have to do is pick up the Mini and enter Lifecast and you can instantly update your Facebook profile almost anytime and anywhere. This means you get to update the moment the thought hits your head. Of course, a lot of people have different social networking sites to which they are a part of, but no other social networking site is a successful as Facebook. This is why this new feature is such a convenience because a lot of people actually do use Facebook as opposed to other networking site such as MySpace, Multiply, Friendster and other sites.
Mobile Phone Specs
The Nokia N97 Mini may seem like a novelty phone with its Lifecasting feature. In actuality, the Mini is a pretty good phone. At closer inspection, you get to appreciate the fact that this phone is a mini. It's light and thin, yet it sports a full 3.2” touch screen display and a full slide out QWERTY keyboard. Naturally, the QWERTY keyboard is an extremely useful feature particularly when you are typing a message or getting into Lifecasting. The GPS function is supported by the Ovi Store, which means that you get to access updated and detailed maps. Simply get a mount for your car and you have an instant GPS device. Though you might also want to get a car charger as well to keep you battery juiced.
Battery Life
Speaking of batteries, the N97 Mini has as excellent battery. It can give you enough energy for 28 hours of music playback (though really, do we listen that much?), and up to twelve days of standby time. Of course, this is not considering the fact that a few days of standby time is not so bad since nobody really is without a charger access longer than a week. On the off chance that you are going camping, this battery life should be more than enough; though at this point you would probably have a second battery waiting in your bag.
