Getting your hands on a rogue evaluation copy of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 is pretty much an impossibility to do right now. Still, the current press releases and information regarding this new XPERIA X2 still makes people wonder what Sony has up its sleeve regarding this device. Taking the attention away from the XPERIA X2 was a recent new regarding a new Sony mobile phone that employed a cross media browser and could synch and connect with other Sony electronics such as the Playstation 3 and the Sony Vaio. Many are still hoping that Sony implements this on the XPERIA series might just have to settle with a little disappointment regarding that matter.
The Panel System and the Windows Mobile 6.5 Operating System
There are two main interface systems on the XPERIA X2, first is the panel system. This is a series of 14 panels that serve as 3D icons for you to access the menu. This can later be expanded with 16 more additional panels that you can download from the internet. How this system really works is still a mystery, but at least we can tell you it looks good and stylish. Again, it is not as awesome as the cross media bar, but that is perfectly fine. Window Mobile 6.5 is also in this mobile phone. Not exactly a bad thing, but not something people with cheer for. At least it is upgradeable to Windows Mobile 7 and people seem pretty excited by that.
Using the interface will be done mostly through the touch screen display, and at 3.5 inches, that’s a pretty big and generous space for a screen. With Sony’s excellent reputation with media playback, this means you get an excellent device to watch videos on. There is still no word on how much the storage capacity will be for the XPERIA X2, but we can only assume that it should at least have 4GB of internal storage and provisions for expandable memory. It will definitely be an excellent music player and Sony has generously put in a 3.5mm headphone jack for this as well.
Sony’s Special Touch
It is still not known whether this mobile phone has any special features when it hooks up via Bluetooth with other Sony electronics, and here is to hoping that it will. The ability to access Remote Play and other features will not only expand your mobile phone’s functionality, but it will also make things a lot easier for users. No need to keep synching the mobile phone with the computer nor do you constantly need to copy media files from one electronic to another.
If there is one major thing to look forward to with the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2, it is whether this will truly be the last time the Windows Mobile operating system will be seen pre-installed on a Sony phone. By all means, Sony should scrap the Windows Mobile operating system and start making use of their cross media browser more. Not only does it look better, but it works better and faster than most mobile device interfaces as well.
