HTC Desire: Looking To Surpass The Success Of The HD2

Author: Doncrack // Category: ,
After a very successful 2009, all eyes are on Taiwanese manufacturer HTC to provide a new set of top-flight smartphones better than the last. We take a look at HTC’s new flagship device, the HTC Desire and see how it measures up to the best-selling HTC HD2.

First up, the HD2 has a huge 4.3” touchscreen with 480 x 800 pixel resolution. As the biggest screen in the business it affords the user a huge window from which to manipulate applications, view pictures and web-pages.

At the heart of the HTC HD2 is a super sharp Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1 GHz processor and combined with the 448 MB RAM / 512 MB ROM, the HD2 is able to handle even the most demanding array of tasks.

As a Windows phone, the HD2 is the ideal organizational tool and is fully synchronisable with the full complement of Microsoft Office tools. Media-wise the HD also packs a large 5MP camera, able to record video at 30 frames per second, an MP3 and an MP4 player for music and videos, not to mention a Stereo FM with RDS.

Overall, the HD2 is quite a package and it seems that maxing out the hardware really paid off for HTC as the HD2 became one of the best sellers of 2009 with htc hd2 deals common place in all the top retailers’ most popular charts.

So what more does HTC’s new flagship phone, the HTC Desire, offer?

First of all, the Desire dazzles with a super-bright AMOLED screen. These screens really are streets ahead of the older screen technology and display vivid colours even under bright sunlight conditions.

Furthermore, the capacitive touchscreen itself, while smaller that the HD2’s massive panel, is still large at 3.7”, but the slimmer size makes for a much more comfortable fit in the hand.

Moreover, a smaller screen size means that the Desire’s processor is under less pressure, freeing up power for other tasks, such as navigating pages or running multiple applications in the background. Navigation is made super-simple by the inclusion of a slick optical trackpad- so no more tricky-to-replace track ball, as seen on the Hero.

Another difference is that the HTC Desire runs on Android, as opposed to Windows. The benefits of this are that HTC have been allowed to customize the overall user experience, as opposed to having to stick to the Windows Mobile template, which some users find frustrating.

While the Desire has got the same Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1 GHz processor as the HD2, this time HTC have crammed even more user memory inside - 576 MB RAM; 512 MB ROM, so the HTC Desire ends up performing that much better.

With the HTC Desire, HTC look poised for yet another successful year and HTC Desire deals will available in the UK from April.

In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled for other HTC mobile phone deals at Omio.com.

Mobile Phone - HTC Supersonic Review

Author: Doncrack // Category: ,
Information about the HTC Supersonic has been coming out in a steady stream recently, even though it has yet to be officially announced.

The latest leak offers some new pictures of this upcoming Android OS smartphone, which will reportedly offer a range of cutting-edge features, including a very large, high-resolution screen and 4G cellular-wireless networking.

One of these images is clearly a rendering, but HTC frequently uses renderings to show off its products. And it matches the picture of this model that came to light earlier this week (shown here).

The second image shows the rear of the Supersonic, with the name clearly emblazoned on it (shown here). This picture also helps confirm reports of two of this device's features: a dual-LED flash and a kickstand.

A Preliminary Overview of the HTC Supersonic
A roadmap of 2010 products that leaked out of Sprint recently listed an HTC model with WiMAX, but gave no other specifications. Several more unconfirmed reports have revealed some additional details on it, though.

The HTC Supersonic will supposedly have much in common with the HTC HD2, but with Google's Android OS instead of Microsoft's Windows Mobile. Both models will supposedly have 4.3-inch touchscreens, slim tablet shapes, and 1 GHz Snapdragon processors.

On top of Android OS 2.1 (or possibly version 3.0), the Supersonic will run HTC Sense, this company's alternate user interface that expands on Google's standard one.

As mentioned earlier, this upcoming model will reportedly have a kickstand to hold it up while the user is watching movies on the comparatively large screen.

Despite all the leaks, many details on the Supersonic, such as the camera resolution or battery capacity, remain unknown.

Also unknown is when the release will be, but it's not likely to be for quite a few months.

Mobile Phone - HTC Bravo Review

Author: Doncrack // Category: ,
With the Mobile World Congress just a few short weeks away, many people are already speculating about what little surprises mobile phone manufacturers will be unleashing on the showroom floor. For HTC, the most solid device they have that everyone is focusing on is the HTC Bravo.

The HTC Bravo first popped up when HTC’s 2010 roadmap got leaked. The roadmap contained 5 Android smart phones and 3 Windows Mobile devices, of these, only the Bravo has been confirmed to be in production. The roadmap was quickly forgotten when December rolled over and everyone got excited about the coming Google phone –especially when it was revealed that HTC would be working on the Nexus One.

It came to no surprise that many people thought that the Bravo is the Google phone itself -considering the fact that the hardware specs for both the Bravo and the Nexus One are so similar. It was not until January did news that the Bravo and the Nexus One were two separate devices and both were going to be launched this year. Google pushed through with the launch of their Android phone early this January and HTC has announced that the Bravo is expected to launch this March.

Should HTC decide to unveil this device on February at the MWC in Barcelona, Spain, it will be one of the first Android smart phones to be released after the Google phone. Considering that not many people opted to get the Google phone, the Bravo just might be the Android device people are waiting for.

Specs wise, the Bravo comes with similar specs to the Nexus One; both devices have Snapdragon Android processors, 3.7 inch AMOLED touch screens and 5 mega pixel cameras. The Bravo does have a little extra -720p HD video recording.

Compare: The HTC Touch Pro 2, Hero, and Samsung Moment

Author: Doncrack // Category: , , , , ,
Buying a phone is not hard that what you need is an amount of money but deciding to buy which phone is much harder. You need to know what you want to do with the phone then you can determine the main specifications of the phone.

The HTC Touch Pro 2, Hero, and Samsung Moment are very outstanding phone. You may want to read the article below to find out which one is best for you.
Review - Comparison of the HTC Touch Pro 2, Hero, and Samsung Moment

Whether your contract has expired or you just are bored of your current phone, you may be looking to upgrade. The problem most are having though, is they're not sure which of the latest phones they should buy. For Sprint, many have their sights set on only three phones now: HTC Touch Pro 2, HTC Hero, and the Samsung Moment. Let's look at some key points where these phones shine--

Winner for Processor
Samsung Moment -- 800 MHz

Winner for Screen Size
HTC Touch Pro 2 -- 3.6-inch

Winner for Battery Life
HTC Touch Pro 2

What really amazes me here is the difference in processor speed. The Samsung Moment's 800 MHz really helps it compete against the 528 MHz processors that HTC is using. HTC will be delivering their faster processors in their next release of phones, but for now, Samsung takes the lead. Now, do not think that the Moment is ridiculously faster than either of these two HTC phones...because it's not. It *feels* equally fast. One of the key components that effects actual speeds is the operating system.

Operating Systems

The HTC Hero and Samsung Moment both use Google's Android. The Hero uses SenseUI (a graphical interface designed by HTC) whereas the Samsung Moment uses just plain, old, vanila Android 1.5. What does this mean to consumers? Well, it means that users of the HTC Hero will have to wait for updates pertaining to both SenseUI and Android, whereas users of the Samsung Moment will simply upgrade Android alone. This means you can expect slightly faster updates with the Moment. In fact, Android 2.0 is an upgrade coming soon (hopefully) to the Moment. This update will enable multi-touch capability, as well as additional functions. The HTC Touch Pro 2 uses Windows Mobile 6.1. Users will receive a free upgrade to 6.5, which makes the operating system more finger-friendly. Many have already flashed their phones to 6.5 and I personally have done so on my old HTC Mogul (this was released BEFORE the HTC Touch Pro 1...so it's a bit old). That's a different story though! On Windows Mobile, HTC's TouchFlow software is there to try to make life easier, similarly to the SenseUI for Android.

Unique Features

Some unique features that make these three phones special...Where to begin? The HTC Touch Pro 2 is aimed at the corporate world. HTC implemented a special speakerphone that automatically operates the speakerphone when the phone is flipped over. This allows for people in meetings to quickly turn a normal, private phone call into a public discussion within seconds. Joined with conferencing capabilities and other goodies, this phone will allow for business productivity to increase. Another worthy mention here is that the HTC Touch Pro 2 is a WORLD PHONE. This means it works on majority of the cellular bands out there -- from GSM to CDMA. This makes the HTC Touch Pro 2 an AMAZING travel phone.

The HTC Hero is an amazing device. Unlike most smartphones you see today, this one has a trackball to allow for navigating and playing games. This trackball changes colors to alert the user about different things as well. Another neat feature is that there are light sensors in this phone. This allows the phone to change its lighting depending on whether or not you're inside or outside. Very cool! Also, depending on whether or not you purchase a European version of this phone, it will have a chin that sticks out. That's definitely unique! The chin version--

The Samsung Moment has a very high quality, OLED, capacitive screen. It's very bright and beautiful because of this, though still can give you trouble in sun light. As mentioned earlier, this phone also has an 800 MHz processor, which makes it one of the fastest phones out there hardware-wise. Nice job Samsung!

To Keyboard or Not to Keyboard

Both the Samsung Moment and HTC Touch Pro 2 come with a slide-out keyboard. Which reigns supreme? Well, in my opinion, the Touch Pro 2's keyboard is better. The Samsung Moment's can be a bit iffy at times, though is still nice. Regardless, typing is done fast and easy on these two keyboards. They add a bit of girth to both of the phones, but that's to be expected. Anyone who has to use a Palm Pre keyboard would be jealous. The HTC Hero has no keyboard. This means that you must use an on-screen, virtual keyboard. Despite being virtual, it works well. In the end, it depends on whether you are a tactile person who needs to touch a real keyboard or not.

Build Quality

Build quality is important when choosing a phone. Luckily, each of these phones feels solid and strong. You do not have to worry about breaking these bad boys, though that doesn't mean throw your phone around. You must protect your phone like it's your baby!

Camera

These phones are not that cheap. The Touch Pro 2 is $349.99 AFTER a $100 mail-in rebate. There's really no excuse for this. Sprint has dropped the ball by making it so expensive here. You can purchase this phone for a lot less from Verizon or T-Mobile, though their hardware will be a bit different than the Sprint version. The HTC Hero is $179.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate. That price isn't bad, but you can find this phone on sale at places like Best Buy if you want it even cheaper (and possibly minus the mail-in rebate). The Samsung Moment is also $179.99 after $100 mail-in rebate. also a fair price.

Additional Information and Images

A Touch Pro, Hero, Moment Review that is lengthier and contains images is available at my site. It is updated every time more information about these phones is available. I highly recommend checking it out before buying either one of these smartphones. After all, you'll likely have your phone for 2 years until your next upgrade discount is available.
