LG GD900 transparent phone

LG Electronics demonstrates very interesting phones on WMC 2009. One of them is LG GD900 which main feature is transparent keyboard which is made from glass while the case of the phone is steel. The symbols are illuminated but the keyboard doesn’t provide any tactile feedback. The producer doesn’t show all characteristics of this remarkable device but we know that LG GD900 will support HSDPA (7.2 Mbit/s) and has two cameras – both usual and additional for video calls. The GD900 will be released by the beginning of the third quarter.

This new service was introduced by Nokia’s research center on CES 2009 exhibition. Due to Locate Sensor technology you can be sure that I’ll never lose important items. The principle of operation is very simple – special wireless sensor is fastened to keys, wallet or any other thing. When you want to find any thing the only thing you need is to run special application on your Nokia phone. This application will show direction and distance. Besides it can locate 100 items. Every sensor has built in battery which provides more than 18 month of idle mode.You can use Locate Sensor service in a different way: put sensor in your pocket and turn on special mode of phone’s application and you Nokia device will turn of when the distance between you and your phone will exceed 3 meters and vice versa – it will turn on when you come closer. Unfortunately Nokia Research Center didn’t let know of release date. So we hope that it will become available in the near future.

It seems to be that this company meaningly refuses to make devices which are interesting for users. So designer which nickname was Lecoupdulapin decided to help company. Sony Antaeus device has nice black streamline case and supports all widespread multimedia files’ extensions. The control is realized by means of touch screen. It can be synchronized both with Windows and MacOS using Bluetooth or USB.

Developers from Microsoft together with colleagues from HTC created SideSight technology which gives an opportunity to control mobile phone without finger touches. It is not easy to control some mobile devices because of small screen. So, developers decided to create special multitouch technology. The core of technology consists in infra-red sensors which are situated along the perimeter of mobile device. This sensors track fingers’ motion at 10 centimeter length. Thus user can control mobile device using gesture without any touch. There are a lot of questions concerning this technology but we have to wait for official announce which will take place next week.

Mats Lindoff who is technical director of Sony Ericsson shared future company’s prospects. In particular he said that company was developing great number of different devices and some of phones of series of third quarter would not go on sale. Lindoff also noted that SE is going to pay attention to Xperia series. Besides technical director comes out with a suggestion that company will produce Xperia phones which run on Android operating system. He didn’t say anything concrete but stressed the fact that company was interested in Android OS. Moreover he informed that the first Symbian phone from Xperia series would appear next year.

This technology provides an opportunity to take a photo of the text and to get its translation. The algorithm of text discerning is based on Nokia Multiscanner which is used in E66 and E71 smartphones. Languages such as English, Greek or French will require about 600kb storage on your phone, while more complex languages like Japanese and Chinese will need up to 3MB of storage. Unfortunately there is no any information about release date of Shoot To Translate.

NeuroSky company introduced prototype of the sensor which uses thought commands to control mobile phone. This sensor seems to be fantastic but is based on quite medical technology which gives an opportunity to measure brain relaxation and concentration to relay a corresponding command to a handset. Unfortunately it is unknown how does this sensor work. It is clear that potential of such technology is great. Nevertheless it will take a lot of time to make this sensor ready for serial production.

The screen is protected with tip-up keyboard which in spite of little size is completely functional.
