LG Electronics demonstrates very interesting phones on WMC 2009. One of them is LG GD900 which main feature is transparent keyboard which is made from glass while the case of the phone is steel. The symbols are illuminated but the keyboard doesn’t provide any tactile feedback. The producer doesn’t show all characteristics of this remarkable device but we know that LG GD900 will support HSDPA (7.2 Mbit/s) and has two cameras – both usual and additional for video calls. The GD900 will be released by the beginning of the third quarter.

Zumbafone device is positioned as the first real hands free mobile phone. Zumbafone has very unusual and nice design. Control is realized by means of voice commands spoken into small headset while the phone is in your pocket. To make a call user has to say “Zumba” and name of user from contact list. The producer of this remarkable device is British Zumba Limited company which specializes in web application development and integration of Internet technologies with mobile phones. It is said that the price will be reasonable.

This new service was introduced by Nokia’s research center on CES 2009 exhibition. Due to Locate Sensor technology you can be sure that I’ll never lose important items. The principle of operation is very simple – special wireless sensor is fastened to keys, wallet or any other thing. Unfortunately Nokia Research Center didn’t let know of release date. So we hope that it will become available in the near future.

Imagine device which includes all best of PPC and media player. Somebody can say that we have already had such device as iPod Touch but the matter concerns Sony. It seems to be that this company meaningly refuses to make devices which are interesting for users. So designer which nickname was Lecoupdulapin decided to help company. Sony Antaeus device has nice black streamline case and supports all widespread multimedia files’ extensions. The control is realized by means of touch screen. It can be synchronized both with Windows and MacOS using Bluetooth or USB.

Developers from Microsoft together with colleagues from HTC created SideSight technology which gives an opportunity to control mobile phone without finger touches. It is not easy to control some mobile devices because of small screen. So, developers decided to create special multitouch technology. The core of technology consists in infra-red sensors which are situated along the perimeter of mobile device. This sensors track fingers’ motion at 10 centimeter length. Thus user can control mobile device using gesture without any touch. Mats Lindoff who is technical director of Sony Ericsson shared future company’s prospects. In particular he said that company was developing great number of different devices and some of phones of series of third quarter would not go on sale. Lindoff also noted that SE is going to pay attention to Xperia series. Besides technical director comes out with a suggestion that company will produce Xperia phones which run on Android operating system. He didn’t say anything concrete but stressed the fact that company was interested in Android OS. Moreover he informed that the first Symbian phone from Xperia series would appear next year.

The algorithm of text discerning is based on Nokia Multiscanner which is used in E66 and E71 smartphones. Languages such as English, Greek or French will require about 600kb storage on your phone, while more complex languages like Japanese and Chinese will need up to 3MB of storage. Unfortunately there is no any information about release date of Shoot To Translate.

NeuroSky company introduced prototype of the sensor which uses thought commands to control mobile phone. This sensor seems to be fantastic but is based on quite medical technology which gives an opportunity to measure brain relaxation and concentration to relay a corresponding command to a handset. Unfortunately it is unknown how does this sensor work. It is clear that potential of such technology is great. Nevertheless it will take a lot of time to make this sensor ready for serial production.

Japanese Sanyo company has just introduced Kyocera Katana Eclipse mobile phone which provides 40 variant of illumination. Built in light diode provides such variety of opportunities. So user can customize different light effects for incoming calls, SMSs and etc. The set of multimedia features includes MP3 player with access to Sprint Music Store, microSDHC card slot, Sprint TV and Sprint Navigation services support.

This mobile device will run on Windows XP or Linux. It is known that this mobile computer will be released in October.

IBS Japan company produced GPS20C which is portable GPS module. Its Size is only 39 x 33 x 19 mm. Navigational module IBS Japan GPS20C is based on popular chip SiRFStar III and is designed as trinket. The battery of this portable device is charged via USB. Connection to compatible device realized by means of Bluetooth 2.0.

New mobile media device has been just officially announced. Telcast M26 portable media player combines low price and impressive set of technical features. It has touch screen with 400 x 200 px resolution, FM tuner, TV – out and runs on Rockchip 2706. Supported formats are MP3, WMA, AAC, APE, FLAC, AVI, RM, RMVB, FLV. It seems to be that Intel company surprises us specially. How could guess that Intel was gong to invade mobile medicinal devices market. Nevertheless Intel Health Guide device was approved by FDA. It is combined device which makes easier health guide and gives an opportunity to doctors to carry out advanced remote health monitoring. Intel Health Guide includes interactive tools which are integral part of medical monitoring: human body essential functions sensor, notification system and special tools for two-way communication such as videoconference and email. Besides Intel Health Guide device can be connected to tonometer, indicator of glucose level, scales and etc. This device saves and shows information and sends it to remote server.

Korean KETI labs introduced new module which is able to provide 60 inch picture projection. This module can be integrated with mobile phone or with any other portable device. This optical system projects picture at an angle of forty degrees. The optimal distance is 2 meters and picture has 60 inch diagonal and SVGA resolution (800x600). EGD module is the most advanced technology among all present-day analogues. The weight of this portable projector is 110 grams. Development of such technology eliminates the distinction between portable and full-size devices.
